Type Locality and Naming

Central Sichuan (Leshan). The Jiadanqiao Fm was named by the No. 207 Party of Geology, Sichuan Bureau of Geology. The type section is in Nantuyuan Village, Jinkouhe, Ebian County, Sichuan Province. It is the middle formation in Ebian Gr.

Synonym: (枷担桥组)


Lithology and Thickness

The formation is subdivided into three parts. Lower part is composed of grey, grey-white medium-thick-bedded to thick-bedded dolomite, dolomitic limestone with minor calcareous slate. Middle part is composed of dark-grey, grey-black carbonaceous slate, calcareous slate with dark-grey, thin-medium-bedded carbonaceous, argillaceous limestone, dolomitic limestone, sandwiched locally with minor andesite (the iron-manganese-phosphorus mineralization occur in slate). Upper part consists of grey-green, purple grey slate, phyllite, sandwiched with metamorphosed calc-argillaceous siltstone, metamorphosed quartz sandstone, minor metamorphosed tuff and minor hematite interlayers. The thickness varies from 550 to 1100 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It overlies conformably the underlying Taoziba Fm.

Upper contact

The top is disconformably overlain by the Lanbaoping Fm.

Regional extent

Central Sichuan (Leshan). It is distributed at Jinkouhe, Wangyinping, Jiadanqiao, Ebian County and in Mabian County.
